Amman, 3 August 2026: As part of its long-standing partnership with Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and its ongoing commitment to environmental conservation, Zain Jordan has expanded the scope of its collaboration on national environmental monitoring projects by providing the telecommunications services required to operate air quality monitoring stations for the Ministry of Environment for the first time, while continuing its support for the operation of water quality monitoring stations under National Remote Water Quality Monitoring Project, owned by Higher Council for Science and Technology since 2003.
This expansion reflects Zain’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to support national efforts aimed at protecting natural resources and advancing environmental sustainability by providing reliable telecommunications solutions that enable hourly monitoring of air and water quality. This supports relevant authorities in making data-driven decisions based on accurate and reliable information while enhancing the efficient management of the Kingdom’s environmental resources. The initiative also aligns with Zain’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 13: Climate Action, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
As part of this collaboration, Zain will provide the telecommunications services required to transmit data from 12 air quality monitoring stations with high efficiency. These stations are located in Russeifa, Mafraq, Baqaa, Jiza, Muwaqqar, Irbid, Sahab, Karak, Hasa, and Zarqa. The stations enable real-time air quality monitoring through automated systems that collect samples, conduct analyses, and transmit results on an hourly basis, enhancing environmental monitoring capabilities and supporting efforts to preserve air quality across the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that Zain and Royal Scientific Society have maintained a cooperation agreement for the past 19 years to support the National Remote Water Quality Monitoring Project by providing data transmission services and Real Static IP connectivity for the operation of 13 water quality monitoring stations located across the Kingdom’s key surface water resources. These include Yarmouk River, Jordan River, King Abdullah Canal, Zarqa Stream, as well as the inlet and outlet of King Talal Dam and the outlet of Kufranja Dam. The stations monitor water quality in real time through automated systems that collect samples, perform physical and chemical analyses, and transmit results hourly, enabling the relevant authorities to monitor water resources and enhance their sustainability.
Through these initiatives, Zain Jordan reaffirms its commitment to harnessing the latest telecommunications technologies to support national projects with environmental and social impact, while contributing to the development of a smart monitoring ecosystem that keeps pace with technological advancements and supports efforts to protect the environment and the Kingdom’s natural resources.
