in the Jordan Valley

Balqaa, 11 November 2025: As part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to supporting humanitarian initiatives, and its dedication to contributing to the healthcare sector in the Kingdom, Zain Jordan, through its Free Mobile Children’s Clinic, participated in a free eye care campaign organized in the Jordan Valley in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Princess Alia Foundation, OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) Association and its team at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), along with Alpha Optics Company. The four-day program provided free medical services to underprivileged groups, primarily eye examinations and prescription glasses for those in need.

Zain’s Mobile Clinic participated by offering comprehensive medical services to beneficiaries through its specialized medical team, which included a pediatrician and a dentist. The team conducted full medical checkups for children in the Jordan Valley, including clinical examinations, oral and dental health assessments, and free dispensing of medicines and necessary treatments. The team also referred chronic cases requiring specialized medical follow-up to the relevant government health authorities.
In addition, Zain’s participation helped raise awareness about the importance of visual health and early detection of eye diseases.

This initiative comes as part of the ongoing role of Zain’s Mobile Children’s Clinic, one of the company’s flagship corporate social responsibility programs, launched in 2003 to provide free primary healthcare services across the Kingdom’s remote and underserved areas, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. Since its inception, the clinic has reached over 259,000 beneficiaries, reflecting Zain’s continuous efforts to deliver healthcare services to those in need and enhance their quality of life.

The campaign witnessed the collaboration of several local and international partners, including the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), which served as the main academic partner of the initiative. The university led the academic and community aspects of the campaign through the participation of faculty members, specialists, and optometry students, who conducted comprehensive eye examinations for beneficiaries, provided guidance and community awareness about common eye diseases, genetic conditions, and preventable causes of vision impairment. The university also provided the necessary clinical equipment and instruments to ensure the work was carried out according to the highest medical standards.

Alpha Optics Company also participated in the campaign by providing optometrists and essential equipment needed to conduct the examinations. The company was responsible for preparing the lenses and producing the eyeglasses in its own laboratories to ensure they were delivered directly to the beneficiaries during the campaign. A total of 1,074 individuals benefited from the initiative, with approximately 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses distributed to those in need in the area.

Meanwhile, Princess Alia Foundation coordinated efforts among the participating entities and provided logistical and field support, while the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation organized the eye examinations and provided the lenses and eyeglasses free of charge, as part of its global mission to eliminate uncorrected poor vision and ensure access to vision care services for underprivileged communities.

"In parts of the Jordan Valley, access to vision care has remained limited for years. Through a partnership that brings together local leadership and global commitment, we’re changing that - delivering vision screenings, eyeglasses for those in need, and new opportunities for communities often left behind,” said Anurag Hans, Head of Mission at EssilorLuxottica and President of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation.

This initiative highlights the importance of partnership and solidarity in serving underprivileged groups—particularly through collaboration between the public, private, and civil society sectors - and reaffirms Zain’s ongoing commitment to supporting national efforts to enhance healthcare services and promote sustainable development through initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives and create a positive impact on the Jordanian community.
